No, it\u2019s not the tagline for some\u00a0Tremors in Space<\/em>\u00a0B-movie monster flick. Instead, it\u2019s the result of some research\u00a0recently published in the journal npj Microgravity<\/a>. And despite how it sounds, it\u2019s actually good news. (Spoiler: it\u2019s not us that they\u2019re killing.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the issue: One of the many, many problems that need to be solved before space colonization can take place is what people are going to eat. Right now, astronauts rely on packets of dehydrated food that are launched into space either on their original journey or on top-up resupply missions.\u00a0However, this isn\u2019t a viable solution when, for instance, colonists arrive on Mars.
